FG Allocates N4bn for Road Construction in Ekiti, Senate Leader Reveals
The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, recently announced that Ekiti State will receive N4 billion for the construction of major roads as part of the supplementary budget passed by the National Assembly. This federal allocation is seen as an extension of Governor Biodun Oyebanji's commitment to infrastructure development in Ekiti State.
Bamidele highlighted the immense benefits that Ekiti State will enjoy from the amended supplementary budget, which aims to provide palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal and address the nation's economic challenges. Speaking in Ikogosi, Ekiti on Saturday during a service held to commemorate the 90th birthday of Ekiti State governor's father, Pa Ezekiel Oyebanji, Bamidele praised the values instilled by the nonagenarian father in his children, including good deeds and integrity.
Among the approved projects, Bamidele mentioned the allocation of N2 billion for the construction of Iyin-Ilawe Ekiti Road, which will not only connect the two communities but also link Ekiti Central Senatorial District with Ekiti South Senatorial District. This road will also benefit the newly approved Federal College of Education in Ilawe Ekiti, facilitating easy access to the campus. Additionally, N1 billion each was allocated for the construction of inner roads in Ado Ekiti and Ijero Ekiti, further supporting Governor Oyebanji's focus on infrastructural development.
Governor Oyebanji praised his father's values, emphasizing honesty, integrity, humility, hard work, and self-discipline, which have significantly shaped his personality. Pa Oyebanji's strong belief in scholarship as a means to overcome poverty led him to prioritize acquiring a Western education, and he urged parents to invest in their children's education as well.
The allocation of N4 billion for road construction in Ekiti signifies the Federal Government's commitment to supporting the state's infrastructure development and improving the lives of its people. With the completion of these projects, Ekiti State will witness enhanced connectivity and improved transportation, paving the way for further economic growth and prosperity in the region.
