NASENI Seeks Investors for Local Lithium Battery Production



The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is actively seeking collaborations with foreign investors to promote local production and domestication of lithium batteries and other renewable energy solutions in Nigeria.


Dr. Bashir Gwandu, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, expressed this commitment during a meeting with a business delegation from LEMI Technology in Shenzhen, China, held at the agency's headquarters in Abuja.


NASENI aims to foster partnerships with international companies interested in establishing their industries in Nigeria to produce renewable energy solutions, electric vehicle parts, and other capital goods that can create job opportunities for Nigerians.


Dr. Gwandu highlighted NASENI's efforts to attract solar cell manufacturing to complement its ongoing work on solar panel assembly.


The agency has also engaged with companies from various countries to explore possibilities of local production of lithium-based end-products in Nigeria.


NASENI invites foreign investors and friends of Nigeria to consider establishing their businesses in the country, assuring them of support and an encouraging investment environment.


The agency plans to collaborate with the National Automotive Design and Development Council to promote the development and production of electric vehicles, as well as the conversion of existing vehicles to electric vehicles.


During the meeting with LEMI Technology, the focus was on potential collaboration in lithium battery production. Dr. Gwandu expressed satisfaction in working out a memorandum of understanding with LEMI Technology to ensure safe and efficient means of producing lithium-based batteries.


Ms. Joyce Chen, the founder of LEMI Technology, expressed the company's readiness to partner with NASENI and invest in Nigeria.


NASENI's proactive efforts to attract foreign investments in the renewable energy sector and electric vehicle production demonstrate the agency's commitment to promoting sustainable solutions and driving economic growth in Nigeria.
