Anambra Family Rejects Autopsy Report, Insists Daughter Was Killed: Demands Justice for Chinyere Awuda

 

The family of Chinyere Awuda, a young lady found dead near an abandoned swimming pool at a hotel in Anambra State, has rejected the autopsy report that stated she died of drowning. Instead, they firmly believe that she was killed and are seeking further investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

In a statement released through their lawyer, Eziafa Enwedo, the family has called on the police to release the CCTV footage from the hotel, alleging that the footage shows a male adult chasing Chinyere towards the pool area. This revelation has fueled their suspicions that foul play might be involved in her death.

The Anambra State Police Command had earlier revealed that Chinyere fell into the abandoned swimming pool at Cosmila Hotel and drowned. However, the family maintains that the autopsy report contradicts their belief that she met with a violent end.

According to DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, the pathologist found no signs of trauma on Chinyere's body during the autopsy. This finding contradicted claims that partygoers beat her to death after accusing her of stealing naira notes during a birthday celebration at the hotel.

However, the family insists that the CCTV footage and autopsy results must be made public to establish the truth about Chinyere's death. They raise concerns about the authenticity of the police's investigation and urge the authorities not to rush to close the case based solely on the claim of drowning.

Enwedo asserts that the authentic CCTV footage in the possession of the police shows scenes where the deceased was being pursued and pummeled, indicating a possible assault. They demand to know the identities of the adults who pursued her into the abandoned swimming pool area without raising the alarm that she fell into the pool.

The family seeks justice for Chinyere and preservation of the sanctity of life. They emphasize that her death should not be easily explained away, and that a thorough and transparent investigation is crucial to establish the truth and hold those responsible accountable.
