Bandits Launch Deadly Attack, Killing Seven in Bauchi State
In a tragic incident, suspected bandits carried out a deadly attack in Gara and Gamji villages within Burra District of Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State. The armed assailants arrived in large numbers, shooting indiscriminately, resulting in the deaths of seven people and leaving many others injured.
Confirming the incident, the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili, stated that law enforcement, in collaboration with the Nigerian military, engaged the bandits, leading to the neutralization of three attackers. However, the remaining assailants managed to escape into nearby bushes, possibly wounded.
Among the deceased victims from Gamji village were Ali Usman, Shuaibu Adamu, Yunusa Adamu, Ali Alton, and Umar Sabo Ibrahim.
The authorities, along with local vigilante groups, are currently conducting an intensive search operation in the surrounding area to apprehend the perpetrators. The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammad, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and urged swift action in bringing the culprits to justice.
An eyewitness, who is a member of the local vigilante group, recounted that the bandits arrived on motorcycles and heavily armed, making it difficult for the local security forces to confront them directly. The attack reportedly occurred around 9:00 PM on Tuesday.
Among the casualties was the Ward Head of Gara, Mai Anguwa Ali, along with five other individuals, including Alhaji Ibrahim, Shuaibu Adamu (aged 45), Yunusa Adamu (aged 50), Umaru Sabo (aged 25), and Ali Aldo.
The incident has caused shock and grief within the affected communities, and authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the region.
