House of Representatives Commends JAMB for Technological Innovations in UTME Conduct

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee, Ejikeme Mmesoma, Soli Sada, has praised the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for the use of technological innovations in conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
During the committee's visit to the JAMB headquarters, Sada lauded the exam body for deploying technology to improve the UTME process and fortify its operations against criminal infiltrations. The committee also acknowledged JAMB's contributions to the federation account through its revenue generation.
Sada expressed admiration for the quality of governance and discipline demonstrated by JAMB's public officers, emphasizing that the institution represents the caliber of Nigerian professionals in the public sector.
In response, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, highlighted the board's utilization of a Situation Room to communicate with all states and candidates during the examinations. He also mentioned monitoring activities such as CBT center accreditation, registration, and admissions to over 1000 higher institutions from his office.
The JAMB management, under Prof. Ishaq Oloyede's leadership, has demonstrated a commitment to leveraging technology and discipline to manage the board's affairs efficiently. This approach has resulted in substantial remittances to the Federal Government, including an interim surplus of N2 billion for the 2023 operating year, with more expected as the year's operations are completed. Since taking office, JAMB has remitted over N55 billion to the government's coffers.
The House of Representatives committee intends to strengthen JAMB's capacity to continue providing quality services to the nation, building on the success of its technological advancements in the conduct of the UTME.
