Nigerian Air Force Destroys Illegal Crude Oil Refinery in Rivers State

In a successful operation on Friday, July 21, 2023, operatives of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) discovered and destroyed an illegal crude oil refining site in Rivers State. The mission was part of the air component of Operation Delta Safe, a joint security effort aimed at combating illegal activities in the region.

The operation was largely intelligence-driven, with the NAF conducting hours of careful surveillance before executing the strike at Dariama village, located approximately 20km from Abonnema in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The purpose of the mission was to curb the activities of oil thieves and economic saboteurs in the area. According to a representative from the Nigerian Air Force, such operations are a regular occurrence, as the government remains committed to safeguarding the nation's interests.

This recent operation follows a similar dismantling of an illegal crude oil refining site by the Nigerian Navy in the creeks of Degema LGA of Rivers State just a week prior.

The Nigerian authorities continue to intensify efforts to combat illegal activities related to oil theft and refine sabotage in the region to protect national resources and economic stability.
