Nigerian Man Showcases Ongoing Bungalow Construction with a Budget of N3 Million

In the midst of a debate questioning the possibility of constructing a decent house with a budget of five million naira, Nigerian man Austin Olykiss has joined the discussion by showcasing his ongoing bungalow construction project. Despite having spent only three million naira so far, he proudly displays that the construction has surpassed 50% completion.

The debate originated when Abraham MacHills shared an image of an impressive house, claiming it was built with a budget of five million naira. Abraham further asserted that anyone with land could replicate the structure for the same cost. This post garnered significant attention, leading to skepticism and inquiries from many individuals.

To provide evidence of the feasibility of such a project, Austin took to Twitter and shared images of his own partially constructed building. He confidently stated that he has spent three million naira on the construction, and an additional two million naira would be sufficient to complete the house. He went on to address the doubters, expressing his confusion as to why they questioned the possibility. According to him, a two-bedroom bungalow can be built with a budget of five million naira, excluding furnishing costs.

The revelation has sparked surprise and disbelief among many individuals, as it challenges the prevailing notion that constructing a house requires a significantly larger budget.

Netizens' Reactions...

@fdmlearn commented, "They cheated you, even with self-supervision and spending 3 million, it's not prudent. The artisans have shortchanged you."

@damola_ade77 stated, "I can see that you didn't do a German floor (DPC/Ground floor slab). This is one of the reasons why you need an engineer to build for you. The floor of your house will experience dampness, which will ruin your paints and pose a health hazard. When the ground is wet, the blocks soak up water."

@Sunkranegram remarked, "For your house, only the roofing and parapet will take up that 3 million."

@iam_olykiss defended himself, saying, "I spent around 1.2 million on it. The parapet is designed with zinc. I got more for less. Not everything has to be luxurious. Don Jazzy built a house with 250 million, but that doesn't mean a regular person can't have a roof over their head for 5 million."

@damola_ade77 questioned further, "How much does it cost for the solid water seal for the whole house? And how much for the German floor? Please do the math."

@iam_olykiss responded confidently, "It won't be more than 200,000 naira. I understand that you builders aren't happy, but we all know the truth. 5 million can build a 2-bedroom bungalow, quote me anywhere."

@ArcMaxB warned, "Lol, you'd even argue about it. Just wait a little while after you're done to see the costs of maintenance. Brace yourself for dampness, cracks, and tears."
